CSS MPT 2027 Registration Closes in 15 Days — and the Old Challan Form No Longer Works

The window is open and it is short. CSS MPT 2027 registration closes on 20 August 2026, which leaves fifteen days from today. But the deadline is not what will cost most candidates their application this month. Two quieter changes will — and one of them is sitting in half the guides you have already read.

CSS MPT 2027 registration: the confirmed dates

FPSC online registration for the MPT-2027 is open from 3 August 2026 to 20 August 2026, and the test will be held on Sunday 27 September 2026 in 19 cities. The fee is Rs 250, paid by generating a 16-digit PSID. Qualifying the MPT is mandatory before you can apply for the CSS 2027 written examination.

That is the whole answer in four lines. Everything below is the part the one-paragraph news stories left out.

First: the payment method changed

This is the single most likely reason a 2026 application fails, and it is barely being reported.

Under the current public notice, payment through the old FPSC Challan Form (TR-6), cheque, bank draft or pay order will not be accepted. You must generate a 16-digit PSID and pay through the 1-Link facility. FPSC has stated that applications will only be accepted through the online portal, with the examination fee submitted via PSID.

Now compare that with what is still sitting on page one of Google. Several widely-shared CSS guides — including pages written from the earlier advance notice — still describe the fee as a deposit at National Bank of Pakistan or State Bank of Pakistan branches under Head of Account C-02101. That was the CE-2026 mechanism. Someone who follows those instructions in August 2026 will walk out of a bank branch with a stamped slip that the portal will not recognise.

If you have already paid, the test is simple: did the transaction start with a PSID generated inside your FPSC account? If not, log back in and start the payment step again.

Second: the test is roughly six weeks earlier than last cycle

Most aspirants build their screening-test preparation around November, because that is where the MPT has sat for the last two cycles.

The 27 September 2026 date lands about six weeks earlier than the CE-2026 MPT, which was held on 9 November 2025 — meaning anyone who built a study plan around a November target now has to compress that timeline. For reference, the MPT for CSS 2025 was held on 17 November 2024.

Read that again if you are currently working to a plan you made in June. You do not have twelve weeks after registration closes. You have roughly five.

That single shift changes what sensible preparation looks like. There is no longer room for a full syllabus sweep before the screening test. The realistic approach for most candidates is to secure the qualifying mark first — English usage, general knowledge, current affairs, basic arithmetic and Islamiat — and hold deeper optional-subject work until after 27 September, when there is a genuine gap before the written application opens.

Who can actually apply

FPSC has specified that candidates must hold at least a second-division bachelor’s degree, with the age limit set at 21 to 30 years. A two-year relaxation is admissible to the categories specified in Rule 6.

The number that trips people up is not the age limit. It is the cut-off date.

Age, educational qualification and all other eligibility requirements are determined with reference to the cut-off date of 31 December 2026. That single date governs age, qualification, domicile and all other eligibility criteria under Rule 5.

So the question is never “am I eligible today?” It is “will I be eligible on 31 December 2026?” A final-year student whose degree completes before that date, and a candidate who turns 21 in November, are both looking at a different answer than the one they would get from a calendar check in August.

Domicile follows the same logic. If your domicile certificate is still in process, the date that matters is the cut-off, not the date you submit the online form. Start that paperwork now rather than in October.

The clause nobody quotes

Under Rules 11(20) and 11(21), candidates are provisionally admitted at their own risk — if found ineligible at any stage, their candidature is cancelled regardless of appearance in, or qualification of, even the entire process.

The portal accepting your form is not FPSC confirming you are eligible. It is FPSC letting you proceed while the responsibility for checking stays with you. People have cleared the MPT, sat the written papers and been removed afterwards on a document technicality. Verify your own eligibility against the CSS CE Rules 2019 before you pay.

How to register, step by step

Applications are submitted through the Apply Online link on the FPSC website at fpsc.gov.pk. The sequence in the current notice runs like this:

1. Create an account on the FPSC portal, or log in to an existing one.
2. Open the application form for MPT-2027.
3. Complete your personal, educational and domicile details carefully.
4. Generate the 16-digit PSID for fee payment.
5. Pay the Rs 250 fee through the available 1-Link options.
6. Log back in to the FPSC portal after payment and enter the remaining required information.
7. Submit before 20 August 2026.

Two practical notes. Keep those login details somewhere permanent — the same account is used later to apply for the written examination when it is advertised. And no hard copy is required at this stage; the document packet belongs to the written stage, not this one.

The Admission Certificate can be downloaded from the FPSC website at least 10 days before the test. Nothing arrives by post. If you are waiting for an envelope in mid-September, you will miss your centre.

What happens after 27 September

The rest of the cycle is already scheduled, which is unusually helpful for planning.

A note on the format

FPSC’s MPT notices have stated that appearance in the MPT is not counted as a chance, and that the answer key is uploaded to the FPSC website on the same day the test concludes. In the previous cycle the paper carried 200 MCQs with no negative marking.

Treat the paper format as indicative rather than settled — confirm the marks distribution and question count against the notice and instructions for your own cycle before you build a timing strategy around it. The attempt rule is the more important half anyway: sitting the MPT and not clearing it does not burn one of your CSS attempts.

1. Paying by the old challan. TR-6, pay orders and bank drafts are refused. PSID only.
2. Applying on 20 August. Portal load on closing day is predictable and the deadline is not moved for it. Aim for the 15th.
